Wine by Xavier Goodridge

Born in a hidden pocket of Gippsland, helmed by winemaker Xavier Goodridge, Xavier Wine speaks of place, time and quiet evolution. A story of steady refinement, Xavier Wine is an ongoing dialogue between soil, season and instinct—each vintage revealing new layers of expression.

Increasingly known for its premium cool-climate Pinot Noir, Gippsland remains something of a secret in Australia's wine landscape. With grapes grown at our 4ha Avon Vineyard in Maffra, the signature Xavier Wine estate collection gives voice to the possibility of this unique, lesser-known wine region, the site’s rich coffee rock soil yielding fruit of exceptional character.

Through organic farming practices, wild fermentation and minimal intervention, Xavier crafts single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay balancing profound depth with elegant complexity. The once-neglected Avon Vineyard, now thriving after years of patient regeneration, continues to reveal its growing potential—a testament to thoughtful stewardship and a reflection of place, time and precision. Year by year, Xavier Wine is a story still being written, a pursuit of something honest.

Estate Release 2025

The 2025 release marks another step forward for the vineyard, as ongoing work in the site continues to refine both balance and expression year by year. Careful attention in the vineyard, from soil health through to canopy management, is beginning to show more clearly in the wines, with greater consistency, clarity and site definition across the range.
The growing season unfolded with precision from the outset, with flowering beginning nearly two weeks ahead of the long-term average and a dry spring providing ideal conditions for fruit set. Early summer continued in a similarly promising vein, with healthy vine growth and naturally balanced crop levels. Timely rainfall arrived post-Christmas, accompanied by a brief hail event that had minimal overall impact — Pinot Noir remained largely unaffected, while small pockets of rot in Chardonnay were carefully managed through meticulous hand-sorting in both the vineyard and winery.

PA PA PINOT NOIR 2025

Regular price$32.00
/

The fruit comes from Mount Gambier and Heywood in South West Victoria. This is Xavier’s original flagship wine. Made to make people happy. As Xavier says, it's everything that a Pinot Noir should be! The grapes are 100% destemmed and fermented in stainless steel for 2-3 weeks. Pressed and aged in a mixture of stainless and old barrels then filtered and bottled in August. Simple.

This Pinot has a translucent bright ruby colour, it’s dazzling. It starts with a bouquet of flowers, cherry blossoms, rose petals and hibiscus. There are umami notes of fresh hazelnuts in skins, game meat and wet forest floor. Flavours are full of cranberry juice and tart cherries with a hint of sweet kirsch character. It has a light touch, savoury finish and lifted acidity. Very moreish, so easy to drink.
